Day 13 - A song that is a guilty pleasure

Track Title: “HOT K-POP 2010 ~special mashup part 2~”

Artist/remixer: DJ Masa (Youtube username: mmixes)

—-

This is one of DJ Masa’s bazillion-song mashups of Korean pop music.  Although I only listen to K-Pop that my friends give me, I’m still embarrassed that I like some of it because it’s basically North American pop music ON CRACK.

The music videos and the singers’ clothes are absolutely hilarious, though.

Day 12 – A song from a band you hate

Track Title: “Summer Girl”

Artist: Stereos

—-

I hate Stereos and all of the recent boy bands that sound EXACTLY LIKE THEM.  Not to mention the lead singer’s voice drives me crazy.

Anyway this is the single that made Stereos famous…I think.  I don’t really care.

I will be going on vacation in a couple of days, and that will mark some changes to this blog.  Namely, the closing thereof.

As grateful as I am to all the followers of Electric Soundscapes, I’m getting very little feedback from you guys.  I have no idea if any of you actually like what I’m posting, or what you want to see more of.  That’s why I’ve decided to merge this blog with my personal one.

Starting next week, all future music-related posts will be made at http://exerciseinexposure.tumblr.com/, including the ones for the 30 Day Music Challenge.  Since Electric Soundscapes is actually my main blog, it will remain open to visitors but be inactive for the foreseeable future.

Again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.  If you really do like what I’ve been posting here, please follow my personal blog for updates.

Day 11 - A song from your favourite band

Track Title: “Love Like a Sunset Part 1”

Artist: Phoenix

Album: Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

—-

I don’t have a favourite band, so I went to my iPod to sort this out statistically.  I looked at the artist who occupies the largest portion of my iTunes (i.e. has more songs in there than any other artist), and it turned out to be Phoenix due to the large number of remixes of the band’s songs that I have.  Whatever, I’m counting that.  Here, have some confusing French goodness.  Lol just kidding, this piece has no words. :D

Day 10 – A song that makes you fall asleep

Track Title: “To Build a Home”

Artist: The Cinematic Orchestra

Album: Ma Fleur

—-

I did not hear this song on Grey’s Anatomy; I heard it on So You Think You Can Dance. The songs used in that show get crazy exposure once each episode airs!

Track Title: “Monsoon”

Artist: Delorean

Album: Ayrton Senna EP

—-

I think that these two amazing songs have much in common with each other.  Both are sung by bands for which English is not the singer’s first language.  Neither song makes much sense, but the chords are beautiful and the beats are very danceable.  Seat-danceable.

Day 8 - A song that you know all the words to

Track Title: “Consequence”

Artist: The Notwist

Album: Neon Golden

—-

…Or rather, “A song to which you know all the words.”  I know all the words in “Consequence” because it’s a very simple and repetitive song.  Additionally, I can almost sing it because the lead (*cough* male) singer’s voice is mostly within my range.  Yes, I’m an alto.

Anyway, just because the song is simple doesn’t mean that it’s not worth listening to.  ”Consequence” is very sweet and it’s one of the few ballads on my iPod.  One day I might be able to play it on the piano and sing at the same time.  At one point I was figuring out the piano part by ear, so I should get back on that.

I fucking love Gold Panda.

This man is a music god.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do Day 6 (A song that reminds you of someone) because I couldn’t find a song that reminded me of any place in particular.  Of course songs provide imagery, but nothing specific from my life comes to mind.  Therefore, I decided to make a double post Day 7.

Track Title: “Passion” (as heard in the KHII trailer)

Artist: Utada Hikaru

I first heard this song in highschool when everyone was crowded around my friend’s laptop to watch the opening for Kingdom Hearts II.  I hardly listen to Japanese music, but this song has stayed with me since then.

Track Title: “Iron” (music video)

Artist: Woodkid

Album: Iron

Similarly, this song was in the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations trailer, so it reminds me of sitting in front of my laptop and squealing with fangirl joy.
